TRAVEL officiais in Didim are openly questioning the fate and future of a key tourism body ahead of a radical 2014 shake-up of local authorities.
The main decision making for council services will be switched to Aydin Provincial Council from April and with it, tourism officials are openly asking the fate of the Didim Tourism Association of Infrastructure Services that acts as an umbrella for all tourism activities in the town.
It’s president Saleh Bankoglu said that the union is still waiting for clear cut guidance from tourism officials from the ministry and province.
He said: “With so many changes due next year, we are wondering for the future for the association as it is key to promotion of Didim at tourism fairs and abroad.”
“We have been asking since May ‘What is the future for the union’ but we have not yet received information”
He said the association should be given a guide in order that it can plan ahead for tourism event and fairs in 2014 and onwards.
