DIDIM’S new mayor Deniz Atabay is to hold a public meeting for the foreign community living in the town.
Voices Newspaper was instrumental in helping bring the meeting about.
It will be held on Wednesday April 30, at 1pm, at the Meeting Room at Didim Council House.
The mayor will outline his plans for the future of the town, while residents will be given the opportunity to raise issues and questions relating to council work.
These issues will be mainly centred on topics such as rubbish, roads, water, builders, beaches, tourism, street dogs and the help desk.
However, it will not touch on other matters such as residence permits, visas, PTT, SGK, policing as these are all related to the central government, and lie outside the Mayor’s immediate remit.
Readers have already given the thumbs up for the meeting and have pledged to turn up to be able to come face-to-face with the mayor.
Editor Andy Probert said: “It gives the foreign community an ideal opportunity to see what the mayor’s about and what his plans are. Equally it gives the residents a chance to raise council-related issues.
This will be the first time foreign residents have been given the opportunity meet the mayor. The last time was about five years ago.
