DIDIM Mayor Deniz Atabay held a meeting with representatives of the building sector and told them: ‘Obey the rules or else’.

He, along with senior council officers and politicians, met at the Didim Aytaç – Nurullah Kocabıyık Cultural Center to address builds and constructors.

He said there had been too much negative talk about Didim and licences being given out. Now with the new administration, builders would have to strictly adhere to the rules.

He said: WE expect everyone to work within the framework as after all, rules are there to be enforced.”

He added that he was aware of how the construction works and would not compromise on adhering to the regulations in Didim. “We will be fair, but will not compromise.”

Building work will be banned on May 15 in accordance with government guidelines until October 15, he added.

Further meetings are due to be held in June
