A FORMER governor of Didim has been handed a five-month jail term over the handling of water sports tenders for third Beach, it has been reported.

Ali Katırcı was sentenced at the 1st High Criminal Court on a charge of ‘abuse of office ‘. However, the sentence is now subject to an appeal.

The case revolves the handling of water sports tenders and operators on Third Beach in 2010.

A civil complaint was made by one party and the leasing arrangements, and this was apparently proved in a court in 2011.

Following from that, a prosecution was filed and Mr Katırcı was sentenced.
