Thanks for purse recovery

Lesley Edgar

MY friend arrived from Scotland, went to the Yapi Market to cash in sterling, then went to to do some shopping. She went into a few shops and when she arrived home she discovered her purse was missing.

She was in a real state as all her cards, UK and Turkish, were in the purse along with a few hundred pounds sterling and lira.

We spent the best part of the day retracing her steps, visiting both police stations, and the Akbank, and the shops, to no avail.

Lo and behold she went out tonight with her husband to walk the route she came and there was, a big notice with her name on it on the Golden Views complex in Altinkum asking her to contact Turkish Home Office Estate Agents.

She called them and went to their office on Ataturk Boulevard only to find out they had found her purse and everything was intact. They would not even accept a reward for finding the purse.

I take my hat off to Mr Polat and his staff for their honesty and efforts to contact my friend. Also to Andy Cowles who posted on Facebook looking for my friend. Well done Turkish Home Office and a huge thank you from me and my friend Cheryl. You have made her holiday.

Dolmus overcrowding issues

WHY don’t the police do something about this. In July, 18 people stood up . This should be stamped out as it is an accident waiting to happen.

Dog issues persist

Carol Eykyn

I went to the meeting in April with the council and approached the subject of street dogs. They told us they would be rounded up within a week. Well that was three months ago and nothing has been done. There was six dogs in my garden and the gate was closed. They are jumping over the walls.

My granddaughters are now in Hunters Valley and have been frightened by the dogs. The dogs are so hungry and now they have put new binsin place in Didim they have nowhere to feed and are coming down by the dozen.

I have sent a Facebook message to the mayor but have received no reply.

My husband saw three dogs that were really sick. It is unfair to treat dogs like this. Please approach someone to do something about this problem before someone or a child is hurt.

Phone shop misery

Bernard Newman

JUST to warn everybody here in Didim about the rip off being carried out by Vodaphone

On Thursday 10/07/14, I paid 15TL for 1 week’s unlimited internet. It went off 17.00hrs Friday

I went back to the shop to complain and the girl put another 15TL and told me that I would have to pay

After much complaining from me she got someone who could speak English who informed me that as I hadn’t waited for 1 hour before turning on my internet Vodafone had taken 10TL and only given me 1 days Internet

Again after much complaining from me, she said I would have to pay the 15TL that the other girl had put on.

Unwillingly, I paid up to be informed that Vodaphone had again taken 10TL for one day’s internet because the mobile router was on when she put the money on my account & I hadn’t waited 1 hour before turning it on so I have now paid 30tl for 2 days Internet instead of 2 weeks.

I complained there are no notices in the shop to inform customers either in English or Turkish of this.
