Neighbours catch burglary suspect

NEIGHBOURS turned detective when they became suspicious of a man seen in a complex block last week.

Their suspicions were proved right when they caught the man entering an apartment on the second floor of the block at Halil Koc apartments on Sokak 820.

The man, having searched the apartment then tried to make his escape from a balcony but he was caught by neighbours who later handed him over to arriving police officers.

Syrians caught fleeing to Europe

ABOUT 80 Syrians have been detained by Turkish coast guard authorities as they fled to the Greek islands from Didim.

Local officials said there were two separate incidents: one in which immigrants in two inflatable boats were caught, the second in which 17, including three children and three women, were detained.

They will also be transferred to Aydin’s foreigners department for their safe return.

Woman feared drowned in pool

A 22-year-old woman, with family from Istanbul, is reportedly to have been found in a pool.

The woman was discovered in a pool in Akbuk. Despite urgent calls, emergency services were unable to save her.

The Gendarme has now launched an investigation.
