THOUSANDS of people are expected to turn out for a major summer concert at Didim Marina next Saturday (August 30).

While small scale gigs have been put on at the marina’s Blue Point Club, the Didim Marina’s owners have unveiled plans to stage a big concert featuring Turkish superstar Göksel.

Next Saturday, there will be a fair at 6pm; a circus show with mime artists from 7.30pm, a DJ performance at 8.30pm, before the concert kicks off at 9.30pm.

A Didim Marina spokesman said the concert may well be the first to be hosted in the coming week. All concerts and performances are free to attend.

She said that other famous singers are being scheduled.

The concert, the first for two years, will feature acts, acrobatics, mime artists and face painting for children. There will also be kite-making and other children’s activities in the run up to the concert.

In previous years, most people have walked to the concerts given the problems of car parking at the venue and on the main road leading to the site.

Nevertheless, the Blue point’s four concerts this summer have been well-attended and well-supported by Turkish and foreign community.
