AT LEAST three British people living in Didim have been told to leave Turkey after they were found working illegally, Voices has learned.
The newspaper has been told from at least three different sources in the town that the trio were asked to leave the country within 15 days.
Interestingly, we have learned that, in at least one case, police were visiting the address of one of three as part of their residence permit renewal.
When they discovered that person wasn’t at home, they asked neighbours who said they were out at work.
Officers visited the person at work, found to be working without a work permit and from there were taken to the police station.
They were then advised that due to this breach, they had to leave the country within 15 days.
It is understood the police actions have occurred within the last two weeks
In separate moves, other foreigners, Voices understands, have been warned in relation to the fact that they have set up legally in business in the resort, but then began acting as the managers of the company without work permits, contrary to the law.
A 731TL fine is levied on foreigners who work without a work permit; a fine of 365TL for foreigners who work independently without a work permit and for those who employ foreigners without a work permit, the fine per foreigner is 2,928TL.
