EXPATS gathered last Friday to remember one of their own – Billy Steele – a year to the day he died on his 65th birthday.
The memorial, which was attended by his family from the UK, was organized with the help of his wife Carol and friends in Altinkum.
Carol told Voices: “Billy died in Altinkum sadly on his 65th birthday and, due to circumstances, his family was unable to attend his burial.
“So last Friday (Sept 26), his family all came here together to attend a memorial service for him, to pay their respects, visit his final resting place and to celebrate his life.”
She said the memorial saw expats and family come together at his favourite place, Paradise Beach, where they raised a glass in honour to him.
Carol added: “I would like to say thanks to everyone who attended and made this day special for myself and his family.”
