Sewer pipework comes to Akbuk
KILOMETRES of pipework have arrived in Akbuk in readiness for a winter laying project for the much-promised, and controversially financed, sewer system.
Although a court case addressed the financial element, in relation to residents being asked to contribute to the scheme, it seems that the project is getting underway, with roads being dug in readiness for the pipe laying.
In the first phase, an 18 kilometre network will be laid.
Olive Oil Festival planned
A FESTIVAL celebrating Didim’s olive oil industry is to be held from November 7-9.
Following along the same lines as last year’s, Didim Chamber of Agriculture is taking the lead in organizing this year’s festival.
The aim is to highlight the sector to the public, and there is news that there are plans to plant one million olive trees in the coming years to further establish the industry.
Activities for three days will be announced shortly, by the organising committee.
Theatrical performance announced
The Didim Public Theatre will be holding a production on Thursday November 6 at the Chamber of Commerce’s Cultural Centre.
The two-act Turkish-language comedy called “They do not need to exaggerate” will feature a number of actors locally. The performance will begin at 8pm. Tickets will cost 20TL.
Didim recorded fourth consecutive draw
DIDIM recorded their consecutive fourth 1-1 draw at the weekend.
Didim had two players sent off in the away game against Izaks Gaziemir. However, Didim had been 1-0 up going into the last three minutes of the game, before they conceded a leveller. The draw means that Didim remains in fifth place.
Didim, in their latest game on Sunday (October 26) defeated one of the league’s hot favourites Soma by 1-0.
