GROWING costs and the lack of suitable alternative site have been blamed on the decision to construct the new bus station serving Didim on its present site.
Didim Mayor Deniz Atabay at his latest press conference said that an alternative site had been looked at, but the current 26-acre location would serve the resort well given its close links to the town.
He said: “The consensus of opinion is that the existing bus depot will be refurbished rather than elsewhere as there was no alternative venues.
“The current sites is 26 acres and ideally located for the market place, hospital and close to the town centre.”
Akbuk ferries
He also indicated that there were plans underway to accommodate a ferry run to Akbuk during the summer in a bid to increase the areas of attraction for tourists.
