A NEW link between Shannon Airport and Izmir has been unveiled.
Shannon Airport has teamed up with Sunway Holidays to put Turkey back on the menu for Limerick holidaymakers this summer, the Limerick Leader has reported.
The newspaper said that weekly charters to Izmir will provide ease of access for those heading to popular resorts such as Kusadasi and Didim.
Last year, Turkish operator Wings Abroad pulled season flights between Shannon and Bodrum due to low demand.
Shannon is confident the new Izmir link will operate from May 23 to September 19.
Shannon Group CEO Neil Pakey said Kusadasi and environs offered “the best of beaches, old city walls and great arts and culture, perfect for couples and families. This news represents a positive start to 2015 and broadens summer sun options again for Shannon passengers.”
Sunway is the largest tour operator to Turkey from Ireland. And managing director Tanya Airey, said the company was “delighted to reintroduce the many wonders of Turkey to the west of Ireland”.
