Update

MAYOR Deniz Atabay has outlined a number of issues aimed at improving Akbuk, while admitting shock at the “alarming deterioration of the roads” as the ongoing sewer works continue.

The Mayor met several residents and CHP party faithful at a three-hour meeting in Akbuk last night.

He outlined a number of issues:

a) an improvement on the state of the roads: he was alarmed at the rapid deterioration of the roads following the current wet spell and pledged to get the roads reinforced and the accumulating mud sorted as quickly as possible;

b) for the municipal garage to be relocated;

c) for Friday market to remain where it is (although part of it is within the the current municipal garage area;

d) the planned Didim-Akbuk ferry for the summer has hit a slight snag in terms of finding a berthing point, but hoped to overcome that;

e) requests have been made for more vaccum sewer trucks for the summer,

f) more cultural activities to be held.
