Muggers on motorbike caught

TWO teens suspected of a motorcycle-style mugging of a woman’s handbag have been detained.

They struck as the woman, aged 52, was walking on Adnan Menderes Boulevard, in Hisar district. They rode up behind her and one grabbed the shoulder strap of the handbag before they roared off.

An hour later, Didim police created a checkpoint close to the Apollo Temple and caught stopped the motorcycle and detained two suspects (16 and 17 years) on suspicion of the theft.

Bins bin burglars

Four youths – 15 to 18 years – have been arrested after a burglary in Sokak 17, Altinkum.

It appears they took a camera and binoculars, police responded, and later questioned a youth on Yale Cadd about the binoculars around his neck. Subsequently the four were arrested and sent to court.

36 rescued at sea

Akbuk: A total of 36 people, including 3 children, on two boats have been rescued in a complicated operation by coast guard and other services.

One boat with 27 people aboard was in difficulty and another with nine aboard was trying to assist in its rescue, but due to the severe storms.

They called in the coast guard for help. All were rescued and there were no injuries. It is understood the group were local fishermen.
