DIDIM councillors have opened a new front on tackling pavement peddlers and other obstacles by adopting a new law.
The council has adopted the “Didim Municipality Sidewalk Regulation” with the aim of bringing more freedom to the pavements of Didim.
The action was endorsed by Didim Mayor Deniz Atabay as part of a follow up from last year’s campaign against illegal street peddlers of fruit and various other goods in and around Didim and the town’s Saturday market.
The new law encompasses the pavement, its shoulder, the medians and roadsides and will be implemented ahead of the new tourism season.
Mr Atabay said the law would enable the pavements to “become more civilized”.
