A GROUP of 22 Eritrean national have been detained in Didim as they attempted to head for Europe’s backdoor into Greece.

The illegal immigrants, including eight women, were caught as they tried to hide in scrubland around the Mavişehir district. Police caught them after a tip off.

The police also seized food, clothing and life jackets from the group which was later transferred to Aydin Province Police Foreigners Department for questioning and eventual deportation.
