FEBRUARY saw 2.6 million TL in fines handed out to 10,512 drivers in the Aydin province.

Overall, traffic officers stopped a total of 51,252 vehicles for checks, with 145 drivers having their licences confiscated, 35 being reported to court for vehicle defects and 1,085 vehicles banned from the roads for not being in a roadworthy state.

There were 334 accidents, in which there were five fatalities, 298 people injured and 144 property damage-only to vehicles.
