Small survey on British spend in Didim

Update
A SURVEY has been conducted by Help-in-Hands members on the spending of its member sin the local economy.

A Help-in-Hands spokeswoman said: “We are all aware of the recent mayhem caused by the introduction of the 120-day rule, which is causing an ever-increasing number of Brits to leave Didim.

“Although Help-In-Hands is NOT a lobbying group, it prompted them to commission a small survey of 50 ex-pat residents.

“The purpose of this was to highlight the monetary contribution that we make to the Didim economy.”

The survey encompassed day-to-day living costs, but did NOT include property or vehicle purchases or tax paid on bank interest revenue.

She said: “Surprisingly, the yearly spend of only 50 people amassed to just over 1,000,000TL.

“These figures were forwarded to the British Consul in Istanbul who recommended the group inform the Didim Governor of our findings as he would  be interested in understanding the importance of the British contribution to the local economy. This would then feed into his own lobbying and discussions with the Turkish Government.”
