RESIDENTS endured water cuts for a number of hours and roads were closed as the Aydin Metropolitan Municipality General Directorate of Water and Sewage Works (ASKİ) continued its programme of works in Didim this week.

Teams concentrated on sewer pipe installation works in the Inonu Boulevard and Cumhuriyet Caddesi areas, close to the Didim State Hospital, on Monday (Apr 13).

The council said Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Marina Road) would also receive infrastructure works at some point in the near future.

Works had been delayed due to bad weather, but there is now intense pressure to get the programme complete before the main tourism season swings into gear.

About 9 kilometres of roads, which have been uprooted as part of the pipe-laying works, will be improved with hot asphalt during May.
