A SPECIAL auction and entertainment night held for the Every Need campaign in Didim raised 4,750TL, it has emerged.

The July 15 night was hosted at The Box Bar in Altinkum with entertainment laid on by Rewind’s Jackie and Kevin Bird. There was also an auction of various prizes including restaurant meals, boat trips, wine and handmade candles.

Every Need Didim, headed up by Jill Robinson, was originally launched last year to help provide 10 local children with basic school clothing and equipment, such as bags, pens and books.

The Box Bar night, which raised 4.750TL will again help to provide much-needed school essentials for children at Valiler School, but Jill said that she wanted to provide a soft play area and play equipment for the school.

She said: “The night attracted about 80 people and we were overwhelmed with the amount of money that was raised for the cause. I would like to thank everyone who supported the evening, particularly Charlotte Cain at the Box Bar, Kev and Jackie and all the local businesses that gave to us.”

Jackie and Kev told Voices: “We are more than happy to back the cause and have given our time free for the evening. Jill is doing a fantastic job for what should be a guaranteed right for every child at school.”
