A NEW culture centre offering a host of courses and workshops has been opened in Didim by the Aydin Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu.

The inauguration of the centre, in Selanik Caddesi, Yeni Mahallesi, was also attended by civic leaders last week.

Ms Çerçioğlu, in her opening speech, spoke of her sadness at the death of Didim student Elif Kanlıoğlu.

She called on all the citizens of the town to make it a centre of excellence and a long-term success.

Didim Mayor Ahmet Deniz Atabay said that so far 518 students had signed up on various courses at the centre for 2016.

Among the courses offered are Zumba, Latin dance and embroidery.
