A BRITISH woman has spoken highly of the medical team that enabled her to begin walking again after hip op surgery.
Geraldine Ann McAvan, 68, was reportedly diagnosed with an infection of a hip which meant she was admitted in a wheelchair to Izmir’s Özel Sada Hastanesi.
Under the guidance of Orthopaedic Specialist Bora Şerifhan Alpaydın, a two-stage hip replacement operation was launched.
She is said to be in good health, now able to walk with the aid of a cane, with full recuperation expected within two months.
Local media reported that Mrs McAvan, prior to the operation, could only walk with the support of her husband John and was in pain.
Mr Alpaydın said: “We planned a two-stage surgery for our patient. She was in pain and in a wheelchair on being admitted, but with the surgery she is now able to walk alone and with the help of a cane.
“Hip revision surgery is one of the most difficult surgeries in orthopedics, but she is making very good progress.”
Ms McAvan commented that she had full trust in the Turkish doctors, was “very happy” with the experience and looking forward to making a full recovery and resuming active life.
