Illegal structure demolished at Cennet Koy

An illegal structure has been taken down by Didim Council at Cennet Koy – otherwise known as Paradise Beach.

The hut was taken down following complaints and the council’s own investigations .

The dismantling of the illegal makeshift shacks was done in the presence of Didim District Security Directorate teams as a security measure.

Bikers call on Mayor for more paths

The town’s Poseidon Bicycle Group has called on Didim Mayor Deniz Atabay to bring in more bike paths across the resort to help improve safety.

Didim Poseidon Bicycle Group Leader İbrahim Sümer with other members of 30-strong club met the mayor.

Mr Sümer said: “We expressed our support for the mayor in what his council is doing analso expressed our desire to see more cycling routes for our children and the district.”

Mr Atabay endorsed the aim and said he would like to see bike paths around the town as well. One is underway on Inonu Boulevard.

He invited the bike group to attend the Didim Peace Festival and agreed that a bike festival could be organised.

Police checkpoints stepped up

DIDIM District Police Department has increased checkpints into and out of the resort, and questioning drivers of suspect vehicles.

The checkpoints were spotted out towards the industrial estate on the Didim-Akbuk Road and out towards Akyeniköy.

Earthquake rattles Didim

A 3.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded off the coast of Didim this week.

The country’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency ( AFAD ) said the source of last Monday’s quake was recorded out in the Aegean Sea, to a depth of 39 km.
