A DIDIM resident is organising a trip to concerts in Bodrum at the end of August.
Didim resident Valentina is appealing to anyone who wants to travel to see the concerts as part of the 12th international classical festival being arranged at D-Marin, at Turgutreis, to give her a call.
She is planning transportation to see violinst Patricia Kopatchinskaja and the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra on August 26, at 9pm.
Founded in 1868, the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra is one of Europe’s most famous and long-established musical institutions and brings together 100 professional musicians from 20 countries. These have previously included Rudolf Buchbinder, Alfred Brendel, Gidon Kremer, Sabine Meyer and Joshua Bell.
Patricia Kopatchinskaj, an artist on the Sony label, created one of last year’s best-loved classical music albums. She is an active soloist and chamber music orchestra member.
Valentina is also planning to lay on transport for Portuguese singer and musician Lura who will perform at Bodrum Castle on August. 27.
Hailing from Cape Verde, an island country off the Atlantic coast of Africa, Lura drew the world’s attention with her cover of “Flor di nha Esperance,” originally sung by Carlos Saura in the 2007 movie “Fados.”
She gained a wider audience with “The Best of Lura,” her 2010 release composed of songs selected from albums she had made since 1996, due in large part to her unique style, which stands out because of the fusion of traditional melodies and rhythms from her homeland with pop and jazz backgrounds.
Featuring a selection of new and old songs, Lura’s Bodrum concert is also organized as part of the 12th International D-Marin Classical Music Festival.
