MELIH Yavaş, living in Kuşadası, has traveled to 9 African countries with his motorcycle, traveling 14,000 kilometers, despite a traffic accident at the beginning of his travel.

Melih (40), travelled from the city on his bike in 2015 to visit Africa, including Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan.

Returning to Turkey after completing the 10-month treatment process, Yavaş traveled to Africa again in 2016 and visited Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa.

He explained he had been planning this trip for 10 years.

Describing how difficult it is to travel by motorbike, he thought he would meet with safety problems before his visit to Africa.

He said that he went to Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia first. He said, “I had a traffic accident but I set out to continue my path.

“Africa has many memorable moments for myself from the people to the journey, the different colors, languages and religions.”

Yavas said that he preferred to stay in areas where there are camps in general, for security reasons.

He said: “Especially when the children saw the white man with the motorcycle, they were gathering around immediately, this was very nice. There was not a lot of food variety like our country, there was a simple diet.”

He noted that those living in Africa have limited opportunities and they are experiencing health problems because they are fed on a single diet, but that they are living their lives.

He said: “I realized my dream, and now my next goal is to go to Asia.”
