A NEW online project designed to bring the best of Didim and the Aydin to the masses has been launched by Aydin Metropolitan Municipality.
The ‘Aydın is Calling’ project is aimed at shining a light on the province as part of a new focused campaign to introduce Aydin to the world.
The ‘www.aydincagiriyor.com’ website combines history, nature and local tastes.
A council spokesman said the website, which is also in English, will be one of the most comprehensive sources about cultural values in the province and the province.
It introduces many touristic routes such as Heredotos, Mendros and Kuvayi Milliye in Aydın.
Bicycle, camping, nature and walking routes will be given in detail by enthusiasts.
The website also highlights local tastes, including Çine meatballs, couscous and pita.
Aydın mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu said: “We care very much about Aydın’s international promotion. We are also focusing on the cultural values of Aydın in accordance with this.
“We are receiving increased numbers of tourists and this website will help lift the province to the world.”
The website will also be used to highlight the values of Aydin during tourism fairs this winter.
Meantime,President of Aegean Touristic Businesses and Accommodation Association (ETİK), Mehmet İşler , said the 2018 tourism season had been highly positive for the likes of Didim and Kusadasi.
“We have maintained our hotel occupancy rates to up to 100 percent during the season . We are faced with the great demands of the citizens of Germany and England. There is an increase of 45 per cent compared to last year,” he said.
He added that 2019 is expected to see even more growth for the localised tourism industry.
Didim Tourism Association President Tayyar Cengiz also said that the population of the district reached 1 million especially during the holiday of Eid al-Adha , with the number of tourists in total increasing by 30 percent compared to last year.
Cengiz said: “We expect that the intensity will continue until the end of October, and if there is no setback, the next season will be much better than this year.”
