A NEW Energy Identity Certificate for every property in Turkey is set to come into force from January 1, 2020.
Warnings have been issued by the Energy Efficiency in Buildings Association (VERİMDER) that without this certificate potentially there may well be no purchase, sale or rent of property.
The depth, breadth and length of the problem has been brought into sharp focus by VERIMDER Chief Executive Officer Dr Emre Alkin.
He asserted that Energy Identity Certificates will become mandatory from January 1, 2020.
The only problem is that 8.6 million buildings across Turkey do not have this document.
According to Dr Alkin works to be realized within the scope of this document will ensure the efficient use of energy resources, prevention of waste and protection of the environment.
He said: “Currently, approximately 10 percent of the buildings in our country, 873,000 has the certificate. Yet 8.6 million properties do not.”
He said some unauthorized institutions and persons had recently prepared false energy certificates, but the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization was working on this regards as well as regulations for institutions about the certificate.
Questions
remain as to how any property owner can obtain the energy certificate, and how
and who will inspect the property to necessitate the document process.
