TRADESMEN in Akbük district have raised a series of issues concerning the local business community following a visit by the Didim Chamber of Craftsmen and Artisans Chairman Şerif Erul.
He listened to entrepreneurs in different lines of business, such as the local shopkeepers who raised concerns about the lighting, road and sidewalk problems.
He was told that some of the streets off the Akbük coastal walkway were problematic for tradesmen, lighting is insufficient and the general problem of unemployment in the area.
“The trades are indicating the season is not going well in Akbük this season. We urge the municipality to support them by organizing different events and concerts here.”
He said the tradesmen were seeing lots of crowds, but not many spending their money as much.
The tradesmen also complained that it was difficult to find a police officer at night in the Akbük region. One question raised:“We wonder why Akbük does not have a police officer after 5 pm. “
Another issue was the trouble with peddlars that have flocked into the town to sell their wares.
There were also generalised comments about the lack of environmental cleaning in the area “Not only that, but one of our biggest problems is electricity. Due to the continuous interruption of electricity, many electronic devices burn out,” he added.
Mr Erul said many of the problems of the traders are similar, adding that all the issues had been channelled the necessary authorities for action.
