A NUMBER of homes and businesses have been damaged by flash flooding after torrential downpours hit the resort overnight.

One car was dragged into the Aegean at the Forst Camp, near MAvisehir, while owners of homes and local businesses were left mppoing up and assessing the cost of damage from the heavy rains.

Many roads were also flooded by the overnight rains, paralysing life in the district

Due to the rainfall, many houses and businesses, especially Altınkum region, were inundated. Altinkum, as well as Efeler, Cumhuriyet, Mavişehir and Mersindere neighborhoods were left flooded.

On the Didim- Söke highway in the Mavişehir area, the main road was flooded at two different points.  In the morning, the road was closed to the passage of vehicles, and only opened to traffic when the waters receded.

In the neighborhood of Mersindere, a car was dragged into the sea. While many houses and workplaces in the region were damaged, the beach turned to mud. 

Aydın Metropolitan Municipality ASKI teams were working overtime in evacuation work across Altinkum and Didim.

One resident said his house in Altinkum and many surrounding houses were flooded and the rainwater caused much damage.

A citizen who trades in Altınkum said their workplace was completely underwater and the damage was great. 

There have been no reports of fatalities or injuries as a result of the flooding.
