Thales statue proposal from Didim Philosophy Group

The newly formed Didim Philosophy Volunteers Community came together at a meeting with members of the press.

The asociation made a press statement at the meeting, inviting everyone living in Didim who is interested in philosophy to contribute. “Miletus City, which is within the borders of Didim, is known all over the world. The reason why it is known is that philosophy was started in this city. The first and important philosopher of this city is Thales. Thales is the founder of philosophy. 

“Today, there is almost no philosophy activity open to the public in Didim. Those living in Didim seem to have forgotten Thales.”

It added: “Didim Philosophy Volunteers Community was established to carry out philosophical activities open to the public and to make the philosophers of Miletos, especially Thales, known.”

To this end, they made two calls: Didim Municipality to name a street, youth or cultural center after Thales and to erect a Thales Statue in the city. “Secondly, we invite our people who are interested in philosophy living in Didim to contact the Didim Philosophy Volunteers Community.”

Fig shift begins in Aydın

In Didim and across Aydın, where the highest quality figs are grown in Turkey, processing works have begun on the fig trees before the new harvest season.

Ilek, which is the fruit of the male fig product, contributes to obtaining a higher quality product by providing fertilization in the fig product. 

With the approach of the fig season in regions such as Aydın and İzmir where dried fig production is high, quite active days have begun to be experienced in the fruit juice market. In the whey market, which is a frequent destination for fig producers, prices of whey vary between 15-30 TL.

Hakan Bayrak, one of the producers, stated they did not have any problems with weevil in Aydın and its surroundings before the fig season. “This year, we expect the yield to be good,” he said.

Didim Autism Association visit Efeler Governor

Eda Demir, President of Didim Autism and Gifted Children Association, and the managers of the association, Filiz Özer and Ferdağ Çelik, recently visited Efeler District Governor Cemal Şahin.

The representatives of the Association, which was established in Didim in recent months, gave information about the work they do.

 
Eda Demir drew attention to the importance of early diagnosis in autism and said, “We had a productive and pleasant conversation about the importance of intensive, continuous and qualified education, knowing and demanding rights after the diagnosis

“We also highlighted the works that can be done to increase social awareness. We would like to thank the district governor for his sincerity and support.”
