“How many permanent foreigners live in Didim in 2022?” is a question often posed.
Well, now we have the answers. Thanks to the latest figures released by Aydin Provincial Directorate of Migration Management (Aydın Valiliği İl Göç İdaresi Müdürlüğü) on the numbers of foreigners who permanently live here in the province.
Aydin Province has a total of 9,341 permanent foreign residents. Top spot goes to Kuşadası with 4,342 foreign citizens and Didim is in second place, with 2,720.
In Aydin Province, there are also 828 people in Efeler, 364 people in Nazilli, 186 people in Söke, and 117 people in İncirliova. There are 50 in Germencik, 42 in Çine, 36 in Bozdoğan, 28 in Yenipazar, 21 in Koçarlı, 21 in Sultanhisar, 16 in Buharkent, 13 people in Kuyucak, 8 in Karacasu and 7 foreign residents in Karpuzlu.
Among Aydin’s 9,341 foreign legion, there are 2,031 British, the highest number. This compares to 763 citizens from Azerbaijan, 636 citizens from the Russian Federation, 604 Germans and 543 Ukrainians.
Aydin has foreign nationals from 118 different countries, with 45.12% from Europe, 18.56% from Asian, 13.29% from the Middle East, 12.63% from Africa. It was learned that 7.54% come from the Americas and 2.86% from Australia.
In addition to the 9,341 regular foreigners living here, there are also 8,505 Syrians under temporary protection, 6,730 irregular migrants, and 197 citizens with international protection status.
There are people from 23 Arabic speaking countries in Aydın. These include those from Algeria, Bahrain, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
These is a total of 652 students studying at Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADU) in 2022, 132 of these students are from Azerbaijan, 56 from Syria, 45 from Iran, 40 from Bulgaria, 29 from Palestine and 19 from Germany.
Looking at Turkey as a whole, there 1,425,789 foreign residents living permanently. These include 159,050 Iraqis, 123,032 Turkmenistan citizens, 112,101 Iranians, 108,915 Syrians and 95,035 Russian Federation citizens.
