Alev Deniz and Özgür Altun, the founders of Didim Tango, recently organized the “Winter Opening Milonga,” an exclusive tango event.

This event featured a total of eight workshop sessions and two consecutive milonga nights. Renowned tango instructors from across Turkey conducted these workshops, including Ilgın Tetikcan, Özgür Altun, Özlem Savran, Alev Deniz, Sevda Atabay, Yiğit Ümmet, Tolga Alver, and Selçuk Azak.

The music for these events was expertly curated by TDJ Recep Tuğcan, one of Izmir’s leading tango DJs, known for his exceptional music arrangements.

On Saturday, participants enjoyed a grand milonga night, highlighted by a captivating performance from the Izmir-based dance duo Sevda Atabay and Yiğit Ümmet.

Sunday was reserved for the “Practilonga,” a session dedicated to reinforcing acquired tango skills and engaging in free-style dancing. Özlem Savran and Özgür Altun added to the day’s excitement with a mesmerizing performance of their own.

In addition to the distinguished tango instructors, the event drew participants like Onur Kahveci and Özgür Kahveci, authors of the Quantum Tango Book. Notable figures from various sectors, including Hidayet Suerdem, CEO of Garanti Bank, were also present, showcasing the broad appeal of the tango.

The Didim Tango Weekend marked its inaugural edition and was organized by Alev Deniz and Özgür Altun, who previously arranged Didim’s first Tango Festival.

The event, made possible through collaboration with Izmir, Antalya, Izmit, and Kuşadası, brought together tango enthusiasts from all corners of Turkey, quality, and the joy of tango, with the music arrangements skillfully orchestrated by TDJ Recep Tuğcan, a prominent figure among Izmir’s tango DJs.
