Busy months for Help in Hands

Local charity Help-in-Hands has been busy over the last few months helping to raise money and give hope so many more people.

Charity spokesperson Lynn Cole said: “2023 ended with the first-ever joint Boxing Day Swim. I must say a massive thanks to Casper’s Bar, Didim shelter volunteer dog walkers DAS for organising such a ground breaking joint event which was a great success for both sides.

“The funds raised by DAS were allocated to animal food and veterinary bills. For H-in-H the funds raised went to Yalikoy School where they held a presentation day as a thank you for installing their security system.”

She added: “We hope in the future to provide intelligence games and sports equipment as it is one of only a few village schools that increase the number of kindergarten classes year in, year out. This week we released funds to purchase mire equipment as we were asked if we could help.”

Additionally, on International Women’s Day – March 8 – representatives of the group will be traveling to the earthquake-hit area and will meet with 10 women who all have disabled children in the hope that they can assist them in different ways.

“We have already supported a number of people but will be taking donated clothes, blankets, toys and electrical equipment to the Define area,” said Lynn.
