Update

Three students from Didim have returned with a medal haul after competing in the Aydin regional school sports swimming tournament in Nazilli last weekend.

Didim’s representatives this year were: Maya Gördüemel from American Kültür Koleje, Mira Dedemen from Valiler Ilk Okul, and Aymine Ayliz Türkay of Atatürk Ilk Okul. They were among over 100 competitors, aged 10 to 12 years.

Each child was entitled to enter three races chosen by their coaches. The students competed individually on behalf of their schools, but all are part of the Ege Yükselen Spor Kulübü.

The three competed in the 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle. Maya won one gold for backstroke, one silver for freestyle and a bronze in the butterfly. Mira clinched bronze for backstroke and a fourth place in freestyle, and her first medals for Didim.

While the young students made Didim and their schools proud, Ege Yükselen hopes their achievements will encourage more children to come forward and join their teams.
