Didim Bus Depot remains busy

The activity at the bus depot in Didim continues in August. While those who came for vacation set off on their return journey, those who came to the district to spend their vacation also caused activity at the depot.

The station, which has not been bustling since the beginning of June when the tourist season began in the district, is now thriving into August. Despite the increasing prices of bus tickets, it has been seen that citizens prefer buses for long journeys.

On the other hand, while those who come for a holiday go on a return journey, those who come to the district to spend their holiday go to businesses or their homes. It has been seen that demand is especially high for connections into İzmir, İstanbul, Ankara and the eastern provinces.

36,800 TL promotion for DİBEL staff

A contract was signed between the municipality and the bank that gave the highest promotion in the tender held for the personnel working at DİBEL A.Ş., a subsidiary of Didim Municipality.

Within the scope of the contract, DİBEL employees will receive a promotion of 36,800 TL.

Didim Municipality organized a salary promotion tender for 357 personnel working at DİBEL. Akbank submitted the highest bid in a tender in which 9 banks participated.

The parties organized a signing ceremony for the tender agreement at Didim Municipality. Didim Mayor Hatice Gençay and Akbank Didim Branch Manager Pınar Koçak attended as well as CHP Deputy Chairman and Kahraman Maraş MP Ali Öztunç.

Mayor Gençay noted that a total of 13,137,600 TL in promotions would be given, 36,800 TL to each employee. She said: “The economic conditions of our country are obvious; I wish this amount was a little more, but it is your right. We as the administration will continue to stand by the workers.”

The number of fig trees in Aydin counted

While producers are in a harvest rush in Aydın, where the world’s highest quality figs grow, the number of fig trees in the province has exceeded 7 million following the latest count.

As the season of figs, which contribute significantly to the Turkish economy and are important export products, begins, producers in Aydın, which meets 80 percent of the Turkish market, are in a harvest rush.

The fig season has started earlier than expected due to the effective heat this year and efforts to protect against pests, such as fig flies, are being stepped up.

Panic in Kuşadası

The child’s mother PB, who wanted to help the child affected by the spilled mercury, and a woman named MK who was at home were also affected while cleaning the spilled mercury.

Health teams responded and took the 14-year-old child, his mother and the woman who was helping them to Kuşadası State Hospital wearing special clothing. It was learned that the treatment of the 3 people taken to the hospital is continuing and that their lives are not in danger.

Drowning in Didim

A drowning incident occurred at Sağtur, in ​​Hisar Neighborhood in Didim.

It is understood a person whose identity has not yet been determined, who was thought to have entered the sea to cool off, lost his life.

After other citizens who noticed a motionless person in the sea reported the situation, security forces were dispatched to the Şahin Hill beach in Sağtur Mevkii and started an investigation into the matter. Investigations are on to identify the deceased and the cause of the incident.

Mayor Gençay listened to the mukhtars

Didim Mayor Hatice Gençay came together with the neighborhood headmen working in the district and held an evaluation meeting.

It was held in the Didim Municipality Mayor’s Office and attended by 16 neighborhood mukhtars, Deputy Mayors and relevant unit managers working in the district.

Didim Mayor Hatice Gençay, who stated that the mukhtars fulfill an important duty in learning the demands and complaints of the citizens and conveying them to the municipality, said, “We had a productive meeting with our mukhtars, who are the cornerstones of our democracy. We will meet with our mukhtars frequently and work shoulder to shoulder to provide equal and quality service to every corner of Didim.”

Irregular immigration toll in Aydin

While 1,383 irregular immigrants were caught in Aydın in the last seven months, 14 of 33 suspects detained as organizers were arrested.

The balance sheet of the work carried out by the teams of the Aydın Provincial Gendarmerie Command Anti-Smuggling and Combating Human Trafficking Department was announced.

Accordingly, the teams intervened in 116 cases of immigrant smuggling that occurred in the first seven months of 2024. In the operations where 1,383 irregular immigrants were caught, 33 suspected immigrant smugglers were caught. While 14 of the suspects were detained, 19 were released on judicial control. In addition, boats, vehicles, and marine equipment were seized.
