‘Ballet Latino Tango” performed by the Brazilian Basileu França Group at the 21st International Bodrum Ballet Festival brought a tango wind to the district.
Performed on the Northern Moat stage of Bodrum Castle, the work, which is the result of the combination of the perfection of classical ballet, amazed approximately 1500 art lovers with its unique music and emotional choreography, blending rhythm and movement with intense harmony.
The work “Güldestan” staged by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet was met with great interest. It was a special production where Sufism and contemporary themes meet the modern dance language, with music composed by Mercan Dede, direction and choreography by Beyhan Murphy.
The texts of the work were inspired by the works of Orhan Pamuk and Evliya Çelebi, while the set design was undertaken by Işın Mumcu and the costume design by Ayşegül Alev and İsmail Dede.
The lighting application was carried out by Taner Aydın and Beyhan Murphy, while the original lighting design was made by Michael Odam. In addition, the work included the voice-overs of Halit Ergenç and Kubilay Tunçer, the video design by Şafak Türkel and the photographs by Ara Güler.
The closing of the festival was held with the Zorba ballet, staged by Ankara State Opera and Ballet at the Bodrum Castle North Moat Stage on Wednesday and Thursday, 21-22 August.
Inspired by the work of the same name by the famous Greek writer Nikos Kazantzakis, the ballet’s choreography and libretto belong to Lorca Massine.
