Didim explores new initiatives to bolster tourism

A meeting was held by the Tourism Infrastructure Service Union (DITAB) in Didim aimed at investigating new ways to expand its tourism offering.

Aydın Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Demir revealed that as of 2024, Aydin county hosted 4.95 million tourists. One third of them came to Didim. “However, these numbers are not enough. We must promote Didim more effectively by increasing our success at the EMITT Fair,” Demir said.

DİTAB President Simge Kamacı made a detailed presentation about the projects and services. Kamacı presented the projects prepared with the slogan “Stronger, more beautiful together” under the following headings:

Fairs, Magazines and Social Media Promotions: It is aimed to increase the promotion of Didim on local and international platforms.

Godidim.com: A digital platform to promote the district.

Didim Culture Festival: Events to be organized to highlight cultural values.

Virtual Reality Project: Aims to make a difference in tourism by using the power of technology.

Tennis Sports Complex: An investment in sports tourism.

Kamacı shared the details of the projects and listened to the views and suggestions of the participants. In the workshop, what needs to be done to increase Didim’s tourism potential was discussed.

At the end of the meeting, it was emphasized that a strong cooperation should be established among the stakeholders of tourism and the decisions taken should be implemented with a common will.

The meeting was led by the District Governorate in Didim, Can Kazım Kuruca and input from a host civic leaders, such as Didim Garrison Commander Colonel Erkut Arslan, Didim Mayor Hatice Gençay, ADÜ Didim Vocational School Director Nimet Çavuş, political party representatives, municipal council members, chamber presidents, civil society organizations and tourism sector representatives.
