Aydin’s Tralleis Ancient City, which also hosts the ‘Three Eyes’ symbol of Aydın, is expected to open to visitors in August 2025 following landscaping works.
Located in the Efeler district and drawing attention with its history dating back to the 3rd century BC, the Tralleis Ancient City has been under excavation since 1996.
It will continue this year under a project from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The site will be worked on by 30 students, 15 archaeologists, 10 technical experts and many scientists under the leadership of Aydın Adnan Menderes University Archaeology Department Faculty Member and Excavation Director Prof. Dr. Murat Çekilmez.
The Ancient City of Tralleis, spread over a large area of 150 hectares, contains important structures such as the acropolis (upper city), necropolis (cemetery), theater, stadium, temple, church, Arsenal and Roman villas.
Landscaping and environmental planning projects planned to prepare the ancient city of Tralleis for visitors have been completed and approved.
A project tender was held in recent days and the site handed over to the contractor company.
