THE charred remains of a British woman – who moved to Bulgaria from Turkey within the last few months – have been found just 200 metres from her home after she went to walk her two dogs last night (THURS).

The woman, who is known to have been from the Altinkum area and whose identity is known to Voices, had gone to walk her dogs at about 10pm last night, but never returned home. Police have since launched an investigation into the death.

She had settled in the village of Malomir, close to Yambol, in the province of Tunja, with her husband earlier this year.

Bulgarian news sources reported today that the body was discovered by a local man, whose initials have been released as ZH.V, who “had helped them in the household”.

According to rumors in the village, the body was half burned.

Police said they were waiting on a post mortem, but confirmed an investigation is underway into the cause of death, with family and neighbours being questioned.

Voices has withheld the name for the moment as her family have still to be officially informed.

The victim and her husband, who is disabled, had settled in Malomir this spring. Before that, the family lived in Turkey.

The Yambol District Prosecutor said that an investigation is underway and is expected to make an official statement later today (FRI). The completion of an autopsy is pending.

Malomir village Mayor Hristina Dimova said: “I still can not say anything, I can not comment on the case.”

Official sources say that within the province of Tunja, there are a total of 234 registered British citizens that have settled there. There are an estimated 28 Britons living in or around Malomir.
