Update

Deniz Aktaş, the owner of Didim’s City Point Hotel, has issued a statement regarding last week’s sealing of the establishment. Aktaş aims to shed light on the events that led to this decision and clarify the situation.

Open dialogue with Didim Municipality

Aktaş highlighted that he and his team maintained an open line of communication with Didim Mayor Deniz Atabay right from the outset. They had multiple meetings to discuss the hotel’s future and how it could contribute positively to the tourism sector in the district.

During these meetings, Aktaş emphasized their commitment to abiding by the law and operating the hotel within the legal framework. They engaged in discussions to ensure the building’s proper use for tourism and financial gain.

However, the situation took an unexpected turn when the negotiations grew confrontational, prompting them to proceed in accordance with established procedures.

Building registration and licensing efforts

Aktaş emphasized their efforts to secure the necessary licenses for City Point Hotel.

“We obtained the building registration certificate and initiated the licensing process. However, we encountered challenges, leading to the hotel’s sealing.

“Throughout this process, we maintained our commitment to resolving issues through peaceful and lawful means. We raised concerns about the timing of the sealing and the impact on the hotel’s operations”

Aktaş stressed their dedication to adhering to the law and working towards a fair resolution.

Aktaş added: “We are proud, we are right. We did nothing illegal, we did not bribe anyone. We did not threaten anyone. We acted in accordance with what the law required.” He further underlined the hotel’s commitment to lawful practices.
