Fethiye-based entrepreneur Turgut Arıkan is embarking on an innovative venture to establish an expansive ‘bamboo forest’ featuring 300 in-demand or rare bamboo varieties.

He aims to transform this lush area into a living space accessible for locals and tourists to explore.

Formerly a ship captain, Arıkan (38) found inspiration during his travels abroad upon encountering a captivating “bamboo forest.” This experience motivated him to replicate the beauty back in Fethiye.

Turgut Arıkan began cultivating bamboo seedlings on his balcony three years ago as a hobby. Utilizing online resources, he diligently nurtured the seeds in optimal conditions.

Through dedicated research and effort, he has since expanded his initiative, creating a five-acre nursery that houses an impressive collection of 150 bamboo species.

With aspirations to diversify further, Arıkan plans to expand his nursery’s collection, aiming to include an even broader range of bamboo varieties. He envisions this evolving ‘bamboo forest’ becoming a welcoming space for daily living and a captivating destination for locals and tourists alike.
