Didim’s honorary citizen and tourism professional Hüseyin Baraner met with the press members in Didim.
Hüseyin Baraner, who was the pioneer of tourism investment summits in Didim and was later given the title of honorary citizen, held a press conference in the Chamber of Commerce assembly hall with Didim travel agency owner Hikmet Atilla, and made evaluations about world and country tourism.
Baraner stated: “We are in a very turbulent period. The world is also at a turning point. I say this very seriously and sincerely. We cannot keep the sectors separate. It is obvious how small the world is now, how used, dismantled, fragmented, and dirty it is. Forest fires have almost become ordinary in the world. A degree of climate warming killed how many billions, trillions of bioorganisms. We need to think about them too.”
While talking about the health of tourism, he felt that Didim should become more greener and envisaged the largest botanical garden area on the Aegean.
He said: “Today, let them quickly green such a valuable area like Didim for the Republic of Turkey and for all of humanity. Maybe we can create the largest botanical forest of the Aegean here. I will help with EU funds. People can walk in it for hours. We can plant hundreds of thousands of different trees, create walking paths. It can also have a view towards the sea.
“We have to think about these. Also, create a 6-7 kilometer botanical park consisting of the most beautiful trees and botanicals of the world, the Aegean, Turkey or this region. The Botanical Park would be much bigger news and attract attention. Because buildings are everywhere now. The era of buildings is ending. Tourists want healthy forests, trees, greenery, plants, flowers.”
He added: “If this is started now, I also want to invite Didim to a campaign that has no equivalent in the world. Because Didim is ambitiously starting tourism at the most suitable time. This is a chance. I have three or four suggestions. So I want to say these here.
“First, let’s start a campaign with the municipality. Let’s plant a tree for every tourist who comes to Didim within the scope of possibility. Let’s make the world’s largest tourism forest. This is a great PR. A sapling, I mean a sapling or the municipality should plant that sapling. They should automatically take everyone who comes and take them to hotels, plant them, and write their names. It will ensure that they come to Didim not every year, but every 3 or 5 years. Can you imagine? One day, 2-3 million trees will grow there. People will come to Didim again saying that they have a tree there.”
