Turkish Airlines (THY) has announced it will open new flight routes in Chile, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Azerbaijan, France, Sudan, Kazakhstan and Somalia.
Having increased its passenger capacity by 7.7 percent in the second quarter of 2024, THY continues its work on new flight routes.
Depending on aircraft availability and market conditions, THY has decided to start scheduled passenger flights to Santiago in Chile; Abha in Saudi Arabia; Aswan in Egypt; Makhachkala in Russia; La Coruna in Spain; Lenkeran in Azerbaijan; Nantes in France; Port Sudan in Sudan; Atyrau in Kazakhstan; Sialkot in Pakistan; Hargeisa in Somalia, and Katowice in Poland.
Meanwhile SunExpress will increase the number of flights from Leeds Bradford to Antalya in the summer of 2025. It will fly four times a week instead of three in summer 2025, increasing its capacity with flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Sun Express has also announced plans to launch a new route from Newcastle to Dalaman, offering twice-weekly flights starting May 4, 2025. It will also increase its flights to Antalya, responding to strong demand.
The airline, which already operates flights to Antalya from Newcastle, will offer up to five flights a week next summer. This expansion comes as Türkiye remains one of Newcastle Airport’s most popular destinations, with a 15% increase in the number of seats to the country compared to last year.
