In relating his experience of selling his property, Mr Pardy said: “I’ve long since been fascinated by Turkey, its rich history and wonderful people.

“So it was with a heavy heart that, after changing circumstances at home in the UK, l travelled to my apartment in Akbük for a week to organise the sale of my small slice of the Aydın Province that l worked so hard to pay for some 10 years ago!

“After a few estate agent appointments pre-booked for the Saturday, l had an idea of the current value and the expected price that might be achieved in time.

“My hope was to put it up for sale, appoint a power of attorney and then go home and wait but after a strong recommendation from Sinan Akbalaban at Sinbad Jewellers in Didim whom I’d known for 16 years, l asked Realty World for a valuation and was visited by the lovely Janice.

“She explained that although they’d be happy to sell it for me on commission for a similar price to the other valuations that I’d had, they also offered a service where they could offer me a price to buy it outright with no fees, commissions, solicitors or translators fees to pay!

The timeline went as follows:

Friday – Flew out to Turkey

Saturday – Appointment made with Realty World for a site visit on Monday.

Monday – Site visit in the morning and offer made by the afternoon.

Tuesday – Negotiation & price agreed. Legal information gathering began.

Wednesday – Legalities and Power of attorney completed. Payment transferred.

Thursday – Money arrived in my UK bank account.

Friday – Flew home to the UK!
