Didim Camp hosts arts fest

ADNAN Menderes University and Didim Municipality have co-organised an international arts camp between July 16-24.

The Didim Forest Camp, at Taşburun, saw a total of 20 foreign artists and a total of  55 local artists as part of a workshop organised by the university’s Faculty of Fine Arts Department.

The workshop is the seventh year that it has been organised. One of the organisers said: “Our objective is to introduce to the international arena our country and to develop cultural dialogue, while making art in a combination with nature

“We have come together via social media.”

The international artists came from Russia, Kenya, Bulgaria, as well as the Netherlands.”

Bulgaria Sofia University Faculty of Fine Arts Department graduate student Lyuba Yosifche said: “I attended thanks to this with a friend to the camp. This is my first time to Didim and it’s a very nice camp and the ambience is great.”

The workshop was also organised with the help of the International Women Artists Association (FEMİNART). Its spokesman said: “Our association has 12 branches across the globe and representative offices in six countries. We are doing activities for eight years for female artists.

“It’s the first time we have come to Didim. We are trying to build a bridge between transnational cultural development and people. Art is a most powerful weapon in the world.”

Faculty of Fine Arts student Kenyan Ismail Obwag said: “We work with each other and it’s an environment in which we can improve together.”
