Coffin clarification
Lynn Cole
HELP-in-Hands would like to clarify rumours circulating in the community in relation to the provision of coffins for expats.
Voices was correct in stating that coffins will be commissioned for expats on a supply basis. A coffin will be commissioned by our group when the need and demand arises from grieving families.
However, I would like to put an end to the speculation regarding the exact use of the coffin that is now in stock. As in the UK, it will be used to transport to the grave and bury the deceased person with the dignity they deserve.
Rumours have been circulating suggesting that the coffin we presently have will be used as a re-usable/recyclable coffin transporter. These suggestions are completely without foundation.
The coffins that Help-in-Hands will commission will be made and provided locally. The cost will be based upon what can be afforded by the expat’s family/friends/estate as the need arises. I hope this clarifies our position.

Dogs concern in resort
Mary, Scotland
I HAD to write having experienced my first time in Altinkum at the Garden of Sun Hotel, having been to many other places previously in Turkey. The hotel stay was fine and I have no complaints.
The only real complaint I have about Altinkum is the amount of street dogs you come across. They seem to everywhere, with five or six around by the Garden of Sun hotel. Be careful when walking as these may well attack having witnessed one chasing other dogs, cars and people.
In other places in Turkey, I haven’t seen as many dogs roaming around, or on the beaches where young children are. I have decided that I won’t be visiting Altinkum again until this situation is much improved.
Enforce the law of the road
William Wallace
IN light of the recent deaths on Didim’s roads, is it not about time the police are made to deal with the drivers who drive without due care and attention and thought for others on the road? To start with they could enforce the law in Turkey with regards to using a phone when driving: the money raised in fines would be a healthy amount.
