THE fishing season has taken off with anglers and fishing vessels reporting back booming stocks.

The season traditionally begins on September 1 and there was no shortage of fishing vessels off the Aegean coastline arriving back to port after a night’s operation.

According to press reports, fish including anchovies and sardines, as well as other species had been caught in initial catches.
