A CAMPAIGN to establish a pier for large ships and ferries has been stepped up by the Didim Chamber of Commerce Foreign Relations Committee.
The committee, headed up by Didim Chamber of Commerce President and Head of Culture and Tourism Dr Hilmi Yildirim, as well as committee members Aydın Çağlayan, Deniz Demir, Yılmaz Beyazkaz and Nihat Sandıkçı, held a meeting with new Didim Governor İskender Yönden about the committee’s activities.
One of the committee’s main aims is to establish a pier or docking berth for large ships and ferries visiting the town from the Greek islands, such as Kos.
The committee is hoping that a pier of about 300 metres in length will be enough to accommodate visiting ferries.
It also informed the governor of its other activities, such as developing Didim as a brand in the tourism market.
The projects have been backed by former Tourism head and new Didim Mayor Deniz Atabay.
