Update

SEVERAL weeks after Voices Newspaper first raised the issue of water flooding the ancient Temple of Apollo the water authority finally turned up to attend the issue.

Voices columnist Glenn Maffia was first to raise the waters from the Temple site, but wasn’t until Turkish media cottoned on to the Voices piece that they highlighted the problem.

Then within a few days, ASKI, Aydin Council’s water department, turned up with a suction unit to relieve the water problem which had begun to grow worse in recent weeks.

Action was taken after the Culture Directorate met with Aydin Council over the issue.

While an investigation is currently ongoing, looking into the source of the water, Aydin delegated a tanker to the site to relive the Temple of accumulated water and sludge.

Didim Cultural Heritage Presidency Association President Mustafa Senturk called on the Culture Directorate to instigate a proper investigation into the issue.
