A BRITISH man was hospitalised after a fire broke out in the kitchen of his home.

The man, named as 65-year-old Stephen John Reed was taken to Didim State Hospital after becoming overcome by smoke at his ground floor apartment in the Altinkum district of Didim on Wednesday afternoon.

Residents noticed a fire from the apartment and called Didim Fire Brigade who responded promptly to extinguish the flames.

Mr Reed was given oxygen and taken to the local hospital as a precaution. Fire and smoke damage was contained to the kitchen and hallway.
